During our Family Van tour, we had the distinct privilege of recording a session for Daytrotter while we were in San Francisco. We met up with a talented and friendly engineer named Rob at Studio Paradiso, which is nestled cozily behind a hotel in downtown SF. Josh Hedlund, Holly McGarry and we each recorded four songs.
In less than 3 weeks we’ll pile 7 people into a Honda Odyssey, load all necessary gear into our trailer, and hit the road. The lineup for the Family Van Tour will include Cedar & Boyer, Holly McGarry, and Josh Hedlund. There is little that sounds as exciting as spending 2 weeks on the road, with great people playing great music. Once again we’ll be joined by Ani and Miles, our (Jen & Justin) two kids.
Check out our shows page a full listing of where we’ll be. Between May 12th and 28th, we’re playing 14 shows in as many cities.
Below are some photos and videos from last summer’s Ill-Defined Lines Tour.

Here are some fan videos and photos of the March show:
We’ll be doing another Sandpoint/Spokane/Seattle/Portland mini tour in March while Holly’s home. We’ll be playing March 15 at Downtown Crossing with The Terrible Buttons, and throwing another house show on March 16th with artists and location TBA. The last house show we had turned out to be one of our all time favorite shows and we think the next one will be just as amazing. We’ll be in Spokane on March 20, Seattle on March 21 and Portland on the 22nd. All of these locations are still in the works and we’ll let you know when we nail down the details.
Thanks to all of you for the unending support! We appreciate you!
BTW, we’ll be working on a full length any day now… it should be done by June! Yay!
We had a chance to play with the overdubs earlier this year at Full Circle Brewing Company in Fresno, CA. We just added a June 27th date with the same lineup. We’re stoked to play with Ryan and the gang again!
We’re less than 3 weeks out from the first date on Holly McGarry’s Ill Defined Lines Tour, and we are very excited. We’ll be 6 or 7 folks in the van, including our kids who will, by then, be ages 6 and 4. It will be an exciting time for us, and for you as we post updates, videos, etc, of the antics that will undoubtedly ensue as we spend a couple weeks living on the road.

See you on the road!
Last night, our friends Erin and Holly came over to play some music. We didn’t have any particular agenda, which is a bit weird because we’re usually so focused on honing our songs. It was so fun. We played some new songs that we are working on, we played some covers and we listened to some cool songs. We listened to Chris Staples‘s One Became Two after I tried to play and realized that I didn’t know the lyrics. We played Neil Young‘s Only Love Can Break Your Heart, a Shakey Graves tune that I don’t know the title of, and a handful of others.
I love playing our songs. I love writing new songs. I love playing great songs by other people. Music is cool. That is all.
We’re into day 2 of recording our first e.p. We made good progress yesterday and are looking forward to another big day. We’re working in a small bedroom at Jen’s folks’ place, which feels luxurious just by nature of the fact that it’s not our living room.
We’ve been tryin to document the process somewhat via Twitter and Facebook. You can check out the updates at Twitter.com/cedarandboyer, or Facebook.com/cedarandboyer.
We’re hoping to have some CDs available for our show this Friday wih the Terrible Buttons (@terriblebuttons) at Eichardt’s in Sandpoint.
Holly and I (justin) have been working together on getting her site up and running. It’s live as of today and you can find it at hollymcgarry.com.
Our next show with Holly will be on March 17th at La Rosa in Sandpoint.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working on our first record. Basically, this means we completely hijack the living room after the kids are asleep, set up, (mics, mixers, etc) and get as much done as we can. It’s been 3 days over the last 3 weeks and the first track may be finished. The recording started simply, with the same instrumentation we play live – Fun Machine and bass guitar, with the expectation of adding acoustic guitar. 3 weeks later, it has a couple acoustic and electric guitar parts, drums, and a couple vocals at times.
