New Tour Date Added in Fresno, CA

We had a chance to play with the overdubs earlier this year at Full Circle Brewing Company in Fresno, CA. We just added a June 27th date with the same lineup.  We’re stoked to play with Ryan and the gang again!

Tour Excitement Heating Up

We’re less than 3 weeks out from the first date on Holly McGarry’s Ill Defined Lines Tour, and we are very excited. We’ll be 6 or 7 folks in the van, including our kids who will, by then, be ages 6 and 4. It will be an exciting time for us, and for you as we post updates, videos, etc, of the antics that will undoubtedly ensue as we spend a couple weeks living on the road.

To ensure that you don’t miss the action, you can…

  • like us on the facebook (http://facebook.com/cedarandboyer)
  • follow us on tweeter (http://twitter.com/cedarandboyer)
  • subscribe to our youtube channel (http://youtube.com/user/cedarandboyer)

There are a variety of other tools and services that we use to share fun stuff, but those mostly will end up on one of the 3 above as well, so you should be covered there.

And if you have spare floor space and a propensity for welcome transient musicians into your home, check out this post and let us know.

See you on the road!

Playing Good Songs is Fun

Last night, our friends Erin and Holly came over to play some music.  We didn’t have any particular agenda, which is a bit weird because we’re usually so focused on honing our songs.  It was so fun.  We played some new songs that we are working on, we played some covers and we listened to some cool songs.  We listened to Chris Staples‘s One Became Two  after I tried to play and realized that I didn’t know the lyrics.  We played Neil Young‘s Only Love Can Break Your Heart, a Shakey Graves tune that I don’t know the title of, and a handful of others.

I love playing our songs.  I love writing new songs.  I love playing great songs by other people.  Music is cool.  That is all.

Blood | Infinity

there are no answers left to seek

only questions that lead to dead ends

there is no beauty for the weak

only honest love that leads to sympathy

i hope that someone’s leading me

to a place where my blood meets infinity

Mixing in Progress

We’re chipping away at the mixing process for our most recent recordings.  The songs we’re working on are Used to Know, I’m Sorry I Lost Touch, and Blood|Infinity.  These are a few of our favorites, and staples in our live set.  We’re really happy with the way they’re coming out and excited to share them with everyone.  Hopefully by the end of this weekend, we’ll have the tracks up on Soundcloud.

Recording & Twitter

We’re into day 2 of recording our first e.p.  We made good progress yesterday and are looking forward to another big day. We’re working in a small bedroom at Jen’s folks’ place, which feels luxurious just by nature of the fact that it’s not our living room.

We’ve been tryin to document the process somewhat via Twitter and Facebook. You can check out the updates at Twitter.com/cedarandboyer, or Facebook.com/cedarandboyer.

We’re hoping to have some CDs available for our show this Friday wih the Terrible Buttons (@terriblebuttons) at Eichardt’s in Sandpoint.

You’ve Been Wondering

you’ve been wondering if i’m still around
and you’ve been holding your breath
and you’ve been wondering if i’m still around
and you’ve been holding your breath

and i know i walked you out to the edge
and i know i kept you in the dark
and i know i walked you out to the edge
and turned away from a spark

while i’m learning how to do this right
and while i’m learning how to be
while i’m learning how to kiss and fight
please stay here with me

and you’ve been carrying your hurt in your hands
and you’ve been carrying mine too
and i don’t know how to lighten your load
or how to ask less of you

Living Room = Recording Studio

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working on our first record. Basically, this means we completely hijack the living room after the kids are asleep, set up, (mics, mixers, etc) and get as much done as we can. It’s been 3 days over the last 3 weeks and the first track may be finished. The recording started simply, with the same instrumentation we play live – Fun Machine and bass guitar, with the expectation of adding acoustic guitar. 3 weeks later, it has a couple acoustic and electric guitar parts, drums, and a couple vocals at times.
